Updates / Patreon / Discord

Hello all! Just wanted to throw some information out there since it’s been quiet since I’ve returned. I finished editing a chapter of Ayame 14 today. One QC is complete(thanks to drpepperfan!) on it and we’re waiting for a second QC. Once it’s done we’ll release it ASAP. I’ve also pushed through about 50% of the next chapter of Ohana Holoholo tonight. I should be able to get it finished up tomorrow and into QC.

In an effort to make the site a little prettier and less intrusive I’ve decided to go away from using Ads to help pay for site maintenance. Instead we’re going to give Patreon a chance and see how it works out! I think this might be a little more fun for everyone who wants to help out by adding some cool little perks. There’s a pretty new button to your right, so please sign up and support us for some special rewards! 🙂 There’s also still a PayPal button if you’d rather continue to contribute that way. Thanks!

Also worth mentioning one new series we’re going to work on in the not too distant future. Well, I guess it’s not really new! Konohana Kitan, which is based on the Konohanatei Kitan series that went on hiatus a long time ago! So catch up on the old series on our reader if you’re not familiar with it yet. Think of it as us continuing an old series of ours!

I’ve also setup a Discord to try and remain trendy(since I’m not) with the help of Firelily and Tralfamatore. So if you’re interested in joining please use this invite link and stop in to visit!

The Return

Hello all! I’ve returned at long last. I’d love to send a special thanks out to all the members current and former of Kawaii-Scans who worked so hard to ensure the survival of the group in my absence. You’re all amazing and I can’t wait to get back to work with you again! Please look forward to new releases in the near future from us as I begin to work my way back into the group and get my groove back. 🙂 Thanks to all of our readers as well who have supported us for so long and continued to spread kind words and offer support. – Sachiko

Miss Sunflower Chapter 32

The stars align for a rare double release that covers… both ends of the spectrum.
There are some pretty good deals on the sets of Himawari-san at the moment.

I haven’t been able to get my hands on the Himawari-san drama CD, which I am dying to have. If I come across it we will release it as a script (so as not to distribute the Japanese Audio.

Miss Sunflower Chapter 31

Short chapter of Himawari-san doing things and Matsuri-chan being Matsuri-chan.

Some TL notes after the break.

I find myself feeling an urge to try pinching it with a ticket punch.

This is a quote of  Motojirou Kajii, a poet from the early 1900’s which gives an insight to what she’s thinking and shows her knowledge of classical literature.

Those ticket punchers don’t make a hole, but clip a small, unique shape off the edge of a ticket that identifies the station it was used at. So maybe not a brutish as it sounds, but all the same probably not PETA approved.
I think it describes the feeling of instinctively wanting to mess around with things that are fascinating for their own satisfaction and amusement and how this conflicts with the guilt of disturbing them.

Otome Ouji Chapter 6

It has been a while since an update on this. We’re going to finish this series off, since it isn’t too long. Dory did the editing on this one. Enjoy!

Miss Sunflower Chapter 30

Yeah, you heard right. It’s a new release of Miss Sunflower. But first of all, I’m really sorry for vanishing all of a sudden and that you have to wait for a new release, especially at such a cliffhanger. Starting February live just decided to show me how cruel it can be. Things are getting normal now and the releases should be coming again too.

Anyways, I know you want to read the new chapter and I won’t keep it any longer from you. So here you go!

Oh, before I forget, we decided to change Miss Sunflower’s name to Himawari-san from the next chapter onward. Using Miss Sunflower was decided by the first translator of this series and we kept it this way so far, but the group has changed greatly over the time, and we think that keeping the name more to the original fits better.

Ohana Holoholo Chapter 15

Hello!

Please enjoy the next chapter of Ohana Holoholo. I forgot to include a credits page on the original upload, Scans, Sachiko; Translation, Tethysdust; Edit, Hanabi; Proofread, Wolfene & Leanto and Quality Check, Stats & Mikau.

Now for some waffling (of the non-Belgian variety) for those who aren’t bored yet.

There have been a few questions about series length so if it helps give an idea of where we are on a couple of the them:
Ohana Holoholo – About halfway through book 3 of 6 (completed)
Ayame 14 – At the start of book 2 of 3
Miss Sunflower – About halfway through book 4 of 6 and 1 drama CD
Kanocame – Near the end of Book 2 of 5 (completed)
Otome Ouji – About 2/3 through book 1 of 1.
True True – 3/4 through book 1 of 1.

Why you should buy books: (sorry for bringing this up all of the time, but it’s something I feel very passionate about)
– Support the Authors and their publishers.
– Encourage an appreciation of the Western fan-base, creating a more positive relationship between us and the artists that doesn’t rely on occasional licensing.
– You get to arm yourself with spoilers and sound like a know-it-all on the dynasty reader. This will make everyone respect you and is very important.
– Get a nice looking collection of nice looking books.
Let’s all do the right thing and build a good, respectful relationship with the artists. They will notice!

On a related note, I recently saw some nasty comments left in English on Manami’s Pixiv. Whoever did this is probably reading Miss Sunflower on mangafox or something (please don’t do this, by the way), but in case you are reading it here, that’s really unacceptable, undermines our work to maintain a good standing with the artist and represents us all in a bad light. Someone critise a talented and hard-working artist about artistic decision in a book they probably didn’t pay a cent to read really doesn’t sit.
